In a charming setting on a hill overlooking the Riviera dei Cedri, you will find the farmhouse “Fattoria di Arieste”. It is only 1,5 km far from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
From an elevation of a little less than 50 meters you can enjoy a nice view from the unique ruins of old Cirella till Scalea and on particularly clear days till Palinuro. The estate looks toward the sea from a natural slope, surrounded by olive trees. The holiday farm receives guests in one of the farmhouses, modified and recently renovated.
There are 6 rooms of different sizes able to accommodate 20 guests. They are comfortable, with toilet and bathroom inside and air conditioning.
There are double and triple rooms, with the possibility of extra beds. Each room is unique and furnished with the respect for traditional Mediterranean style. Some rooms have a balcony with sea view; the others face the hill or the suggestive villages of Maierà and Grisolia.

“Le Farnie” is situated 350 metres above sea-level on the hills of Altomonte, in Calabria, near the national park of Pollino, between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas. It is an organic farm and produces extra-virgin olive oil in its own artisan olive press.
The farmhouse holiday
Guests are accommodated in an old farmhouse built at the end of the 1800s and now entirely renovated, furnished with antiques and opens onto a portico with a panoramic view. Guest accommodation consists of five bedrooms with bath en suite; meals can be taken in a restaurant that seats fifty persons. Guests can enjoy good, traditional food (book in advance).
What you can do
Guests can take part in the everyday activities on the farm: for example, olive-picking and helping to produce extra-virgin olive oil in the farm’s own artisan olive press; or preparing vegetables in oil, jam and marmalade. They can also take courses in cookery or agriculture. Or they can enjoy walks or go for rides on a mountain bike; and play bowls or table tennis.
What to see
“Le Farnie” lies 1.5 km away from the historic centre of Altomonte, which is reachable on foot. Altomonte is a village of medieval origins and has been described as “an island from 14th century Tuscany in Calabria”.

On a hill, inside a pine forest overlooking the sea, Acqua di Friso is the ideal place for tourists in search of holiday of health and harmony with the surrounding territory.
From the archaeo-camping (as we like to call it), northwards, eyou can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Aragonese castle on the sea (Le Castella) and, southwards, the Punta Stilo lighthouse.

The Sanctuary of Acqua di Friso :
Protected by nature, silence and its strong energy, this is where the ancient Greek used to worship water.Recent archaeological finds have in fact revealed remains of a sanctuary (VI-V cent. b.C.), dating back to Greek period, close to Friso spring water, once used for religious rituals. We offer our guests the possibility to take part in summer field researches where it is possible to personally follow the excavations and the restoration of the finds.
It is in this setting that we organize tours and excursions to villages, castles, abbeys and museums trying to convey the visitors the real magic of Calabria.
Cottages :
Perfectly hidden in the pine forest rise the suggestive small houses, once homes of shepards.The modern kitchens and the bathrooms with shower boxes are also equipped with bed linen (extra).
Camping :
Inside the pine forest with a view of the sea is situated the camp-site with room for ten caravans with every kind of commodity (showers, toilets, wash-basins, hot water and laundry).

The Paglialonga farm holiday is set on the bank of the Crati river, very close to Tarsia Nature Reserve and the Nature Park of Montalto Uffugo in an extraordinary rural landscape. Ideal base for discovering a many-faceted province (Cosenza) from a geographic, environmental, cultural and historic standpoint; as an example most villages of Albanian origin in southern Italy are spread out on the surrounding hills. The Paglialonga farm holiday is only half an hour far from the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ionian Sea and about an hour far from the Nordic-like mountains of the Pollino National Park and Sila.
The 90-hectare working farm, run by the owners, is in the plain where are grown different vegetables and where are bred horses and sheep. The horse breeding plays an important role in the economy of the farm, in fact since 1980 a horse riding school arranges courses and activities at different levels and trips and trekking on horseback in the countryside.
The Paglialonga farm holiday offers the ideal opportunity to spend a peaceful vacation in the farm life, enjoying gastronomic pleasures, typical dishes and specialities as well as cultural values. Meals, a successful combination of local , traditional cuisine and farm products, are offered in an old, renovated hayloft.
Lodging is offered in cosy rooms with bath and air conditioning (two of them are equipped to accommodate disabled persons).

The farm house, which has been recently completely renovated, is surrounded by lush, peaceful countyside, full of fruit trees and typical Mediterranean plants and shrubs. The bedrooms, twin or double and en-suite, all have an individual style while at the same time manteining the comforts and amenities one expects to find e.g. TV, fridge, air conditioning and heating. Guests can also take advantage of the swimming pool in the summer to relax and enjoy the beautiful Calabrian climate.

The dining room, with its rustic charm characteristic of the area has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere, (made all the more so in winter when the open fire is blazing.) and it’s here that guests can appreciate the fine home-cooking of Elena.
